Nick and Cole met the way a lot of couples do these days — Tinder! They hit it off, texted for weeks, and somehow never actually met up.

Cole organized a walking tour of Cleveland for his Venture for America fellowship and chose Pizza 216 as the meetup spot. Nick happened to be bartending there that Friday. On his way out, Cole spotted Nick, they locked eyes like in a rom-com, and made plans for the next day.

From the night they met, Cole and Nick were inseparable. Over sushi at Parallax in Tremont, they made it official. Cole worked from Nick's downtown apartment every day; Nick came to Cole's place after class.

After Nick graduated and Cole finished his fellowship, they loaded up a U-Haul, put Binx the cat in the car, and drove across the country to Denver. Nick landed a job as a kindergarten teacher, Cole knew the area from college, and the mountains are hard to pass up.

After moving to a new house, they were ready to grow the family. Biscuit's former owner was sentenced to life in prison in Texas, and this white-and-tan pup with big soft eyes that look right through you ended up at a shelter in Boulder. He was an instant fit — and even Binx begrudgingly agrees.

A proposal felt inevitable. Cole spent months designing a custom ring for Nick and proposed on a snowy afternoon. Years earlier, Nick had made Cole a scrapbook of their first year together, a book they've kept adding to ever since. Cole slipped in a few new pages and ended with a photo of the ring.
